George Veras, SHHS Class of 1968, is a ten-time National Sports Emmy Award winner and the President and COO of Veras Communications Inc. (VCI). He began his groundbreaking career at CBS Sports, producing The NFL Today, NBA and MLB pregame shows, boxing, two Pan American Games, and the Winter Olympic Games in Albertville and Lillehammer. After producing the global PBS hit Yanni Live at the Acropolis, he founded VCI, leading productions of Yanni Live at the Taj Mahal and The Forbidden City, as well as three additional Olympic Games for NBC, including the first-ever HD telecasts from the 2004 Athens Games.

In addition to sports, George Veras and VCI have produced and directed a wide range of acclaimed music and arts television specials—from Ray Charles Live and Doo Wop 50 to Live Earth Shanghai and 12 Girls Band. He also directed the classical music competition Sphinx and the Ft. Lauderdale Christmas Pageant for six years. In 2003–2004, VCI served as national pledge producer for a slate of PBS specials featuring artists like Carole King, Chicago, and The American Tenors.

After a decade at VCI, George joined the Cleveland Browns as Vice President of Production & Broadcasts, followed by 13 years as Executive Producer and COO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now back at the helm of VCI, George brings unparalleled insight into storytelling, live events, and the evolution of sports and music television. His presentation offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at a legendary career capturing the drama, artistry, and emotion of live performance—from the gridiron to the concert stage.
