Read why Shaker means so much to your classmates.

I learned how to respect and be friends with classmates across many races and religions.  A lifelong learning experience I use every day.

The older I get – the luckier I feel for growing up in beautiful Shaker!

-Diana Namkoong

Shaker provided a great foundation for both my personal and professional growth. Good times and good people shaped my life!

-Wendy Walker Collins

Shaker provided me the educational basis and diverse perspective to be successful and happy in life.  Still so proud to be from Shaker Heights.

-Anonymous

My Shaker experience provided a high quality education. The experience of learning and interacting with a diverse student population made it easier in later years to successfully understand, communicate with, and manage a diverse group of employees.

-Wendy Abrahms Fishman

Education, in its highest form, is not simply the transmission of facts but the cultivation of the whole person. In the community, classrooms, and neighborhoods of Shaker, I found not only academic rigor but a nurturing environment that was growing to understand diversity, champion advocacy, and foster a sense of belonging from the earliest years through graduation.

-Christine Robinson

I found out quickly how good the education was in my first quarter at college. Feeling that I was ready made it easier to acclimate to the higher education experience.

-Scott Marous

My Shaker Heights educational experience prepared me for the world.  While in my senior year at Shaker I took three freshman classes at John Carroll University that enabled me to apply transferrable credits at Boston U. and subsequently received my M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University.
