Betsy Werbel is excited to return home to Shaker for this Red & White gala! Betsy is originally from Shaker Heights where she graduated in 1992. After graduating from Shaker, Betsy attended the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM) as a Musical Theater major and moved to NYC after school and has never looked back. Betsy was last seen on Broadway in Wicked where she was in the ensemble and understudied Madame Morrible. She has also been seen on Broadway in Les Misérables, and was honored to do the show with the one and only, Colm Wilkenson. Betsy has traveled around the country and Canada on both the National Touring companies of Wicked and Les Misérables. She has also been seen on stage at Carnegie Hall in Jerry Springer, The Opera, starring Harvey Keitel. Betsy has recently ventured into event planning and the philanthropic aspect of music and has helped to raise money for many non-profits in the New York and Cleveland area. In 2008, Betsy co-founded the Brian Werbel Memorial Fund in honor of her brother, Brian (1996 Shaker Graduate) who passed away. She has helped raise over $500k for Cancer research at University Hospitals, Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland. In 2018, Betsy joined MedWish International, a Cleveland non-profit that repurposes discarded medical supplies and supports life saving efforts around the world. As Director and founder of Music for Medwish, she raised over $100k for MedWish. In 2020, Betsy joined the Broadway Plus family in New York City as the Educational Sales Manager. She loves inspiring the next generation of artists and she loves being part of the NYC Broadway community in any capacity!
