“Imagine seeing twenty pairs of eyes light up in wonder and amazement. This is what I get to experience multiple times daily as the planetarium director. When our elementary students visit, they get a chance to lift off from Earth and explore topics relevant to what they are learning in the classroom, in a new and exciting way. I get told, or hear from teachers and parents, that they love coming to the planetarium and it is their favorite field trip. High school students stop in regularly to see the room again and fondly remember their visits. Others take high school astronomy, which meets daily in the planetarium, something that does not happen in many astronomy classes, even at the college level. This is only possible due to the Shaker School Foundation’s support of the planetarium and our digital star machine.”
