The show must go on – just in a different format this year. This year’s event, to held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 8 pm, will be virtual and will be open to attendees from all over the world! It will feature student performances and surprise visits from talented Shaker alumni. (You Just Don't Know it Yet) December 1, 2020 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Professor Danny Warshay, Executive Director of the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship at Brown University (and self-described “tortured Cleveland sports fan”) will lead a spirited online workshop about the most critical skill in entrepreneurship: “bottom-up research.” This is the first step in the three-step Entrepreneurial Process that Danny teaches to aspiring entrepreneurs at Brown and all over the world. Says Danny, “As opposed to the myth that entrepreneurs are creative geniuses from birth, The Entrepreneurial Process is a skill set that you can master and apply.” No matter your age, interests, or background, you’ll come away from this interactive workshop with a new way of thinking and approaching opportunities in your life. Join us for a fascinating and informative evening with Lisa Damour, Ph.D., a renowned adolescent psychologist and parent of two Shaker students. Dr. Damour will explain the psychological science that is key to understanding how stress and anxiety operate, both under everyday conditions and at times of heightened concern and disruption.

In her talk, parents will learn:

How to keep pressure and tension from reaching toxic levels
How to parent effectively in the current circumstances
The most reliable strategies for managing ongoing stress

Dr. Damour is recognized as a thought leader by the American Psychological Association and provides her sage parenting advice– along with a dash of wit and humor — as a regular contributor at the New York Times, CBS News, and in her Ask Lisa podcast.
