Honoring Generations of Shaker
2022 marks a momentous occasion; the Shaker Schools Foundation will celebrate 30 years of supporting the Shaker Schools at our annual fundraiser, A Night for the Red & White!
We are in search of families with multiple generations of Shaker graduates to highlight. Does your family fit that description? Do you know of a family who does? We’d love to hear from you! Please reach out to us by email to share the details.
Stay tuned for more information and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Our gala will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 7 pm. Save us a spot on your dance card for this in-person event with a virtual opportunity for our out-of-town Shaker friends.
LET’S GET TOGETHER!
This summer we are planning virtual gatherings for Lomond and Boulevard alumni. Would you like to help host the evening? Just let us know! We promise to do all the organizing to help you have a wonderful evening reconnecting with your school friends.
While Zoom helped us stay connected over the past year, we are thrilled to announce several classes are planning in-person reunions for later this year. Please catch up on all of the reunion updates and plan to come home to Shaker! Make sure that we can find you by updating your alumni profile. Don’t miss out on the fun!
LAUREN HOLLOWAY, CLASS OF 2009, CHANGES THE GAME FOR GIRLS WHO CODE
As part of the District’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, Shaker Middle School launched two clubs this past school year designed to attract and retain girls in STEM learning: Girls Who Code, and Girl stEMPOWER, led by faculty advisors Debra Quarles and Lauren Priestley. Knowing that it’s essential to see what you can be, Deb Quarles reached out to Shaker alumna Lauren Holloway to ask if she would be interested in acting as a mentor to the Girls Who Code, drawing upon her background in the tech industry. What happened next was “a total game-changer,” says Deb. Learn more about Lauren’s involvement with the club, and what led her to the field of STEM in the first place.
We love when our Alumni share their talents with our students! Please get in touch to explore opportunities to mentor or support Shaker students.
