A Night for the Red & White: Another Successful Event!

We would like to thank all who attended and supported the 28th annual A Night for the Red & White on March 7, 2020, at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown. Today more than ever, we will rely on innovation and technology to deliver instruction to all Shaker students in the most engaging way possible. Whether you supported our students by attending the event, bidding on silent auction items, purchasing raffle tickets, or making a direct donation to the Innovation Fund, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Here are a few highlights from the event:

  • Nearly 600 attended, with many Shaker alumni from a wide range of classes. A special thank you to our amazing emcee for the evening, Michael Tate, Class of ‘85 and Executive Committee Co-chair, Sarah Brandon Bowen, Class of ‘07!
  • Michael Bowen, Class of ‘05 and a Shaker Schools Foundation Trustee, introduced a special video highlighting STEAM learning in our classrooms.
  • We raised more than $50,000 in direct donations to the Innovation Fund, exceeding our goal of $40,000. Those funds will be instrumental in supporting the District’s i3 initiative of Inquiry, Innovation and Imagination and provide hands-on STEAM learning for every Shaker student!
  • Our talented students entertained us with performances from VocalEase, Chanticleers, Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, as well as roving caricature artists.
  • We honored the founding co-chairs of the first-ever A Night for the Red & WhiteFreda Levenson, Class of ‘69 and K.J. Montgomery.
  • The silent auction, which raised more than $30,000, featured many unique items donated by Shaker alumni. We appreciate their creativity and support, and thank all who bid on the items!
